About

Welcome to my website! My name Lily Liu. I would like to share just a little bit more background information about myself. I was born in the People’s Republic of China (Mainland), and I moved to the United States with my family over twenty years ago.

When I first moved to the United States, I did not speak any English. I started as a Freshman in high school. I worked and studied very hard to catch up to my classmates. Fortunately, I was able to pass all my classes and graduated from high school. Then, I moved on college. After spending two years in Reedley Community College, I transferred to California State University of Fresno and wanted to study graphic design.

After studied one year in California State University of Fresno, I decided to transfer San Jose State University because its well known program in Arts and Design. The school is also closed to the city of San Francisco that has several of the world famous museums. I enjoyed studying arts and design in San Jose State University.

Along the way, I also decide to study Business Management Information System as a second major along with my art program. My hope was to have some understanding of technical skill along with my creative art skill would help me find a job after graduation from college.

About

I accepted a software developer job offer from Hewlett & Packard shortly after graduating from San Jose State University in 2000. While working at Hewlett & Packard, I learned many things including programming & system design. However, my career and life came to a turning point after being laid off by HP in 2005. I tried to change career by trying out different things that are less technical but decided to decide to stay with developing software systems. I moved back to the Central Valley to seek my opportunities. After retooled my skill sets to make myself more competitive in the market, I was able to find the jobs that I was looking for. Eventually it led to a Programmer/Analyst II job offer from the San Joaquin Air Pollution Control District. I also have worked on different freelance projects outside of my full time job.
