During my first several years of working for the San Joaquin Air Pollution Control District (District), I spent most of my time taking care Website update requests. However, I also got to work on part of big projects as member of a development team. For example, I was involved with a internal project that converted the District’s payroll system from a Visual Basic 6 Windows desktop application to .NET Web application.
Gradually, I got assigned to more different types of software application projects. These projects can be one page Online registration form for District sponsored conference as well as full stack Web portals with complex business logics and functions.
The 2017 Central Valley Agricultural Summit registration Website is an example of a short term project. It was a less than one week project. During the first week of October, 2017, I was given an assignment to 3-tier Web application form for the public to register for the 2017 Central Valley Agriculture Summit in November. The District’s Outreach and Communication Department has provided the look-and-feel for the Web application. The Web application need to go alive by the end of week.
The project completed on time and fulfilled all requirements that the end user asked. The public has been using the Web application to register for the conference.
I used the following skills to build the 3-tiers Web application for the 2017 Agriculture Summit:
- Back Tier – SQL Database/store procedure, T-SQL
- Middle Tier – Web Services in VB.NET
- Front Tier – Microsoft .NET Framework, Web Form, CSS, JavaScript
